This is tough, it’s like a first date. You want to give an accurate representation of who you are, and what you are about, but you don’t want to scare anyone off. Well… that’s not entirely true, I’ve had a few first dates that I have wanted to scare off. Waaayyyyyyyy off. But that’s a story for another time.
How far back do I go? I am a first born, a Scorpio, and I have a healthy bit of red in my hair. I walked, talked, and started commanding people around me before my first birthday.
I was involved in everything at school, I organized people and events every chance I got, except when it came to sports, I actually have zero athletic aptitude. Walking and chewing gum is something I still struggle with. Mnnn… this gum is great… left, right? shoot which leg is next….I’m going down.
I started in food service at 15, working around school, sometimes instead of school. I started waitressing at 17, bartending the moment I turned 19 (maybe even before that, but don’t tell). I bar-tended my way thru bartending. I was supposed to be going to college to be a teacher, but after slinging drinks and working till 4am, those early morning classes were really cutting into my sleep time. I pursued management and service in restaurants and public houses for more than 15 years. I love food, and cocktails. Plus they basically pay you to make sure everyone has a good time. Win.
I live in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. A place that has mountains, lakes, orchards and farms. Amazing farmers markets, and wine country! Wine is Paleo? Right?
Not too long ago I had an entirely different life, one that wasn’t working for me, I will divulge details as we go along, it’s a salacious story. Starting over always is.
I look forward to the time we will spend together in the kitchen! Or when you should be working, or while sitting on the couch in pajamas while eating ice cream, wherever you have time to fit me in to your busy schedule. If you can’t sleep in the middle of the night you should check on what Raj is doing, he is probably up. He laughs more than anyone else I know, and wields a kitchen knife with the precision and skill of a Samurai. But I’m not going to tell you how wonderful he is, I’ll let him do that! About Raj, why he blogs, and his food influences.
